Clinical Rotation
562 Hours Completed!
Rotation Site: Winchester Hospital (Winchester, MA), Online Stimulations (LTC) Practice Experiences: Med Surg, Nutrition Support, Oncology, Bariatrics, Pediatrics, Maternity Observed: Modified Barium Swallow Study, Bariatric Surgery Info Session I was fortunate enough to complete all of my clinical rotations at Winchester Hospital, 205-bed acute care facility, with a team of 3 dietitians. I attended interdisciplinary meetings, patient rounds, and daily Sodexo huddles. Utilizing the Nutrition Care Process, I was able to provide individualized nutrition care to my patients to improve their clinical status and overall quality of life. I closely worked and collaborated with various members of the healthcare team (MDs, RNs, SLPs, OTs) to provide optimal care. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my LTC rotation in-person due to the COVID crisis but Sodexo Dietetic Internships provided me with great LTC online stimulations/resources to fulfill my hours. Majority of these hours were spent watching webinars and completing case studies on various LTC problems (ex. Malnutrition, Swallowing Disorders, Sarcopenia, and Patients' Rights). |
Critical Care MNT Concentration

For the second half of my concentration, I was able to assess and provide interventions for COVID patients. Treating COVID patients involved increasing our hospital's formulary, altering nutrient needs, and recommending appropriate vitamins/supplements - All of which I was able to observe and implement firsthand. |

I was also able to observe counseling sessions for students with eating disorders/disordered eating. I was involved in many tabling events, such as Sustainability Day and Whole Grains Month. My remaining community hours were spent teaching elementary school -aged children about "Traffic Light" eating and seniors about flu season and immune-boosting foods. |
Management Rotation
(Including Food Service Management, Clinical Nutrition Management, and Patient Services)
208 Hours Completed!
Rotation Sites: Winchester Hospital (Winchester, MA), Online Stimulations During my patient services rotation at Winchester Hospital, I was able to interact with patients and improve their hospital experience through meal rounds, patient interviews, and ethnographic observations. Reviewing Press Gainey scores and comments was another key part of my patient services rotation and it allowed me to implement beneficial changes during my CNM rotation. My food service rotation was also impacted by the COVID crisis but luckily I was able to complete most of it in-person at Winchester Hospital. At the hospital, I was able to observe in-service training, learn more about budgets, and organize my own retail marketing event. |
